About Biseulsan Provincial Park

Biseulsan Provincial Park is located in the North Gyeongsang Province of South Korea, covering the scenic Biseulsan Mountain region, which rises to about 1,099 meters (3,606 feet). The park encompasses a mixture of dense deciduous forests, pine groves, and clear stream valleys, providing a rich habitat for native flora and fauna. Its terrain is characterized by steep rocky ridges, scenic cliffs, and several notable peaks, with Biseulsan's summit offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and distant mountains. The area has historically been significant for local communities, with small temples and traditional shrines scattered throughout the park, reflecting the cultural heritage intertwined with the natural landscape. Visitors enjoy a variety of outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, bird watching, and photography, particularly during the fall when the foliage turns vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold. Multiple well-marked trails of varying difficulty lead to the summit and other scenic viewpoints, including the popular ‘Biseulsan Oreum’ hike. Wildlife in the park includes native Korean species like roe deer, squirrels, and several bird species, creating excellent opportunities for wildlife observation. The park's rugged beauty and tranquil atmosphere also make it a favorite destination for weekend escapes from nearby urban centers like Daegu. Preserved as a provincial park to protect its natural and cultural values, Biseulsan continues to be a prime example of South Korea’s mountainous natural heritage and a vital recreation resource.
